  • 3:00 - Its a gray day in LA and we are headed to activision HQ for a private showing of games.

  • 3:11 -  We are greeted by the extremely friendly Activision staff and ushered into a dimly lit but futuristic room, with a large TV screen. It looks like we are going to see some great gamplay.

  • 3:51 - Just saw StarCraft 2 - Wings of Liberty. All I can say is WOW! Looks it will be based on the Terrans in the first installment and the other races in the next 2. No official release date, but it will be huge whenever it comes out.
  • 4:51 - Next in the Activision line up is Red Octaine/Guitar Hero. First up is GH5 coming In september focused on rock music. Then DJ hero in October, and Band Hero in november focused on pop top 40 music. Sounds like a 1,2,3 punch from Activision.

    Band Hero is really going to be focused on the main stream gamer. 20 billboard #1 hits from the jackson 5 to No Doubt.

    GH5 will allow any combination of instruments. 4 guitars? Yep! 4 drum sets? Yep!  It has a new quick play feature that will allow anyone to join the game at any point in the song. Looks pretty cool. The new guitar that it comes with will looks much better built than before. Bands include Coldplay, Artic Monkeys and Nirvana. 85 tracks total.

    DJ hero is launching October 27 and is the "new" hero franchise. It will allow the player to remix top songs from rap to pop. Jay-Z and Eminem are 2 of the top headliners. Looks like they are branching out and going after a different demographic than the other Hero franchises. In the package will include a new piece of equipment, a turntable like device that will allow you to do the scratching and remixing of the songs.
  • 5:15 - Bakugan is up next. October 20 is the street date for the game and they are putting a lot of support behind the title. Activision is putting together a "roll across America " which will be a giant Bakugan touring at different locations accros the US. They are even working on an iTunes App and slapping Backugan on 156000000 milk cartons and posters in 20000 schools.

  • 5:28 - This is the big dog of the Activision console line up and looks like it will be on my best of 2009 list. Street date of 11/10/09.

    Trailer=awesome,
    Gameplay= phenomenal

    This will be a big launch for Activision and a big. launch for Wal-Mart. Expect more news from me on this one. **UPDATE** - this is for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
  • 5:48 - Activisions first entry into the racing genre is Blur. Think a more realistic Mario Kart with licensed games, rather than a traditional racing game. It will have a 4 player split screen and support 20 players online.  They concentrated on bringing fun back to racing games including power ups and battling with  other players on a fairly open track. Street date is 10/20/09.
  • 6:03 - Singularity: A new IP for the first person shooter genre with a Street date 9/15/09. Think the tv show "Lost" in a sci-fi environment. Takes place in the year2010 and you have the ability to manipulate time.  New IP's are always scary, but so far so good.
  • 6:12 - Tony Hawk Ride: shots of the board.

  • 6:41 - A whole new skateboard game. If you like skateboard games you will love this one. If you have never tried a skateboard game then this is one to try. 119.95 MSRP and looks to be the most accurate skateboard game out there yet. PS3, xbox 360 and Wii. Here is a picture of fellow blogger Susan Chronister with ride.

  • 6:51 - If your a Marvel fan like I am then you know all about the Civil War story line. The game not only focuses on that story line, it offers a offers a new twist. Characters are allowed to combine their powers for new combo moves. For example The Hulk can throw Wolverine at enemies to do additional damage.
  • 7:02 - So that was the end of the game lineup and now we off to dinner with most of the staff from Activision to discuss what we just saw.
  • 7:47 - Dinner with Activision

Eric,

I'm no gamer but your post really got me excited.  I really want to see Bakugons rolling down the streets of my town!
