So after months and months of working on this, it's finally time... we are ready to launch our new consumer electronics products that we believe our customers are looking for!  We are so excited to give you a sneak peak of some of the things that you may see in your local Wal-mart in the next few weeks!

First, in the Blu-ray world, we have heard the "magic price point" is $214... well, we're not sure what the magic price point is, but we are excited to say that we will have two players in May that are under $200!  One of those will be a new player from Philips, which will be a great value at $198.  While we continue to investigate what that magic price is, the most important thing is that we are offering our customers the brands they trust at affordable prices.

In addition to the new items and pricing, in select stores we will be showcasing the Blu-ray players, HDTV's, HDMI cables, movies, and home theaters as seen in the picture below.  We think by helping the customer visualize what all goes into having a great "home theater", they will in turn have a better experience when they get it all home to set up.  Would love to know your thoughts on how it looks.  Do you like it?

In our audio business, we have a new showcase of premium accessories that we are very excited to let you see for the first time.  It will feature items such as, noise cancelling headphones, the Sony Reader, and heavy bass headphones.  It's a great interactive experience for the customer to shop as well as bright colored and very fun!

Another thing that's going on in the portable audio world is color!  We will have a fun new color accessory section that we think our customers will really love shopping... this will be a great way to update your current hardware for fun refreshed look... oh yeah, and it's affordable too!

As you check out our new stuff in a couple weeks, don't forget that most this stuff consumes energy--even when it's in standby mode.  The best way you can control your energy use, as well as protect your new investment, is with a surge protector!  We have a great new selection to help our customers save money on that monthly electric bill.  One of the coolest items I've seen is the Philips Smart Surge... this nifty little guy powers everything off when you power off whatever is plugged into the master outlet.  So if you have your TV plugged into the master outlet and your DVD player, home theater system, and PS2 all plugged into the regular outlet, when you power up or down your TV the rest will follow it's lead!

We wish you happy shopping as you check out all the new products in our stores over the coming weeks!  Look forward to your thoughts on the changes!

Your picture appears to show the Blu-ray Discs on open display.  That would be great!  Unfortunately, you say that will only be in "select stores."  I would like to shop for Blu-ray movies at Walmart, but all of your stores in my area have their Blu-rays in locked cabinets.  That makes it impossible to browse, not to mention trying to find someone to open the cabinet.  For me, it's just not worth the hassel to buy them under those conditions.

I can certainly understand that but LD's and DVD's did/do cost more and they sold (at least dvd's did anyway).   Being able to shop for BD's while grocery shopping would be nice especially after working all week.  Right now the only other place with any selection is Best Buy for our area.

I just hope Wal-Mart doesn't try pushing P&S garbage with BD's like they did with DVD's.

I hear that the magic price point for Blu-Ray players is $99.  That's what all the experts said would get people out and buying them during the Holiday season.  Did Wal-Mart deliver?  Meh.  Sorta.
