I love a good story.  I ran across one this morning as I was scanning thru my google alerts.  It came from Slashgear.com and was reporting a rumor out of Tawain.

The rumor is that Asus, the makers of Eeepc netbooks and other computers is eyeing Walmart as their next distribution point for their netbooks.  They may be eying Walmart, but I have not spoken with anyone from Asus regarding placement of the Eeepc or other Asus branded product in our stores.  Just wanted to clear that rumor up.

If you are in the market for a new laptop or desktop, head to your nearest Walmart store.  There is a new set of products from Acer, eMachines, HP, Dell and Toshiba to fit your needs.  Also, we continue to have success with the Acer Apsire One mini and have recently made this even more affordable for customers.  It now retails for $298!!!

But can't find mine listed any place? W3502

Do you think you could help me?

Sandy,  The W3502 was sold by Walmart back in Q3 2006.  It originally came with Intel Celeron 352, 512MB RAM, an 80GB HDD, Combo drive (CD-RW/DVD) and Windows XP Home.  The system is expandable to 2GB RAM.  It has 2DDR slots with the 512MB stick using 1 of them.  You would need to take out the 512MB stick and replace with one or two 1GB DDR sticks to get to 1GB or 2GB RAM.  Or you could put another 512MB RAM in the 2nd slot to get to 1GB RAM.  Another option is the current eMachines EL1200-07W that Walmart is selling for $298 (has Vista) and comes with 2GB RAM & 160GB HDD.  Or the EL1200-06W which Walmart is selling for $398 and comes with Windows XP, 1GB RAM, 160GB HDD and a 19" W lcd monitor.

sandy, you asked about memory for your PC. it takes DDR400 memory and can support up to 2 gigabytes. lucky for you, DDR is dirt (walmart) cheap right now. got to this link and you will see some upgrade options all for under $40.00

Ryan, I am a big computer junky. So you haven't talking to Asus. what about MSI ? I've seen some articles about MSI and their Mac Book Air look alike. Looks interesting.
