Well, this one is a keeper. Are there any Call of Duty Modern Warfare fans out there? This game R O C K S. It is really a fantastic game to play in solo or on-line mode In solo mode, you complete various missions as a British SAS member or United States Marine. The visuals are something to behold. They look lifelike. The AI in solo play is pretty sophisticated. Everything from ground troops to helicopters to sniping missions keeps the action rolling along like a non-stop Hollywood blockbuster. The story line is also solid and makes you want to be a part of the action. The Bad guys are the usual Middle Eastern extremists. I guess they are the new Nazis for the modern era. Anyway, you want to get in there and take action. Just a tip, once you complete solo play, stick around after the credits for a fun challenge. If that were not enough, go one line and see how good you really are. I am presently a 4 star General. The highest rank is a 5 star general in regular mode. Almost there. If you complete that, you can go on to various prestige modes. Clans are possible, but they do not really do much. Inviting friends to you party is the key for team play. Get too large of a team, and it can be difficult to find a match. The on-line play is well balanced. Various missions abound. One of my favorites is Headquarters. Each side tries to control the headquarters which is at one of a few random points on the map. These usually have choke points right there, making the action intense. If your team can control the headquarters, you team starts racking up points. Once a team control the head quarters, NO ONE on that team respawns. The other team needs to destroy the headquarters by standing near it and overtaking it. Once the head quarters is destroyed, all members of the capture team that are dead, respawn. Action starts anew. Like a good sporting match, momentum seems to play a factor. There is nothing quite like coming back and winning a round of headquarters. As you progress through the ranks, various challenges are made available. Complete these, and you get experience points to move up faster in rank. They also unlock weapons, camo and other necessities to make life better on the battlefield. It is a great game. I have it for the Sony PlayStation 3 but hear that the Xbox 360 version is equally great. Anyone else out there playing Modern Warfare?

Hey Joe,

You are absolutely right.  This game is the best one I have played in many years.  Actually Halo was the reason I bought my XBOX 360 but after playing Call Of Duty 4, Halo is just collecting dust.

This is a really good review of Call Of Duty 4.

Joe -- man, you are so right.  This is such a fun and diverse game, I can't put it down.  I love the fact that in many instances there are multiple paths for you to take to attack and the AI on both sides adjust.  Great game, but it is MA rated...so all parents need to be aware of the violence and language.

COD4 is an outstanding game, as someone who has played all of the COD series, it is probably the best effort.  Unfortunately you have neglected to mention that the game is also available on the PC platform, which is where it really shines.

The PC platform is significantly more flexible the the 360 or PS versions  and the online experience is a vast improvement.  There are already close to 3000 new maps available - not modifications of existing maps, but completely new custom maps made created by the gaming community.  Additionally the existence of online 'clans' provides a rich opportunity to make friends and find a game - often with large groups on maps that are significantly larger and more complex then what can be found on the more constrained Xbox and PS platforms (constrained in the sense of map availability and customization). It is not unusual to find servers hosting as many as 54 player games.

I have noticed your blog seems to be more Xbox and PS centric - don't neglect the PC gaming experience.

I totally agree with you, Joe.  I can play this game night and day and not get tired of it.  Not only do the different maps give you a challege but the various skill levels you encounter from the different players is remarkable.  Two thumbs up!

Carl - yes, it is videogame and not PeeCee specific, as I do not buy PeeCee software. As a matter of fact, I do not even own one. I am a diehard Mac User :-). Yes, the few, the proud...

Sorry, but one should not expect PeeCee game reviews or blogs from me. We have some very talented people that buy these items, but I am not one.

Josh - I agree with you! I am almost through Prestige 1 and will go into Prestige 2 soon. I saw on some blogs that there will be updates and new maps coming. So far, I have over 2 days on-line and am ranked in the to 125K. Sounds low, but when you realize that there are over 1 MILLION players on line for the PS3 version, that is in the top 12.5%. Not too bad, now if I can figure out how to get PAID to play games, I bet I can get that higher :-).
