So, here we begin. All things have a beginning, and this is ours. As Ayn Rand, one of my favorite authors said in Atlas Shrugged, "Throughout the centuries, there were men who took the first steps down new roads armed with nothing but their own vision." Let us take those first steps and our vision will begin here.

We hope to use this little corner of the internet in a way to reach you, our Members, in a way that we have not in the past. Here you get to talk about some of the coolest stuff on the planet, video games.

I get the responsibility of buying video games for Sam's Club. That means I am your agent and try to find the best items and deliver them to you at great prices. We can use this space to talk about what we like, don't like and what we should do differently. We welcome everyone. From folks who grew up on the Atari 2600, like me, to new folks with their first PlayStation3 to everyone in between. Hard core vets, casual gamers, newbies and experts are all welcome. Hopefully we will have some fun along the way and share some thoughts. You get to help decide the direction in which we will go. Be sure to share your thoughts with us as we go down this road together.

So, to start things off, let's toss the ball to you. What upcoming game are you MOST looking forward to in 2008? For me, it is Metal Gear Solid 4 for the PS3. I think this will be a pretty amazing title. All of the trailers we have seen so far look incredible. What do you think and what are you looking forward to in 2008?

Thanks for the feedback engine.  As a marketing professional I am encouraged by your use of Web 2.0 to gain customer insight.  Here's a suggestion for you, the gaming department should take over purchasin decisions for board games as well as video.  Gaming should encompass both.  By doing so I think you would be able to help the general boardgaming public learn about some of the better (read not run around in a circle) boardgames that are out there and help drive down costs.

There are a few games that you should really be carrying on your shelves.  1) is Settler's of Catan and second is Ticket to Ride by Days of Wonder.  toys R us in select stores have started to carry more "designer games".  I think you would see an increase in boardgame sales through quality products.  Give it a try.

EaBo - Thanks for the feedback. Glad that you are using the blog. We have taken your feedback and sent it on to the toy buyer at Sam's Club. I really like Catan on the 360 (OK, I admitted it). It is not part of my usual fare (Warhawk, Call of Duty, BioShock, Madden, Drake's etc...) but I do play it when I have a few minutes to kill. It is a great boardgame as well. While I am not as familiar with Ticket to Ride, I did a quick Google on it, it appears that it would be an interesting game. Thanks again for using the blog and for the feedback.
