I am Marvin Deshommes, loving husband, father of 2 kids, and a Merchandise Manager for Wal-Mart Stores US Division. I have worked in merchandising for Wal-Mart for the last 13 years. 

In my current role in Lawn and Garden I am able to collaborate with a team of buyers, product development, replenishment, marketing, and suppliers. The buying team analyzes the marketplace and works with suppliers in order to procure the right items at the right price at the right time and in the right quantities for our customers. I enjoy being a Merchandise Manager because it allows me to work with people and be an advocate for the customer. My favorite quote is,”…To whom much is given, from him much will be required…”    (Luke 12:48)

I have had the good fortune to hold several positions within merchandising. I have  worked my way through the various buying levels and now lead a team of buyers.   I have had the privilege of being responsible for various categories in the company. My previous buying responsibilities have included; souvenirs, flags, poster, maps, books, magazines, stuffed animals, educational toys, and preschool toys for the Wal-Mart Stores US Division.  With my buying experience, I have gained insight in all aspects of key financials in the retail industry driving sales, improving margins, managing markdowns, improving turns and balancing inventory while delivering a return on investment for the company. I have traveled around the globe sourcing the best products from the best manufactures to secure the best assortment of product for my categories of responsibility. I have also received Buyer of the Year awards in (1996, 1997, and 2000).  I take part in UNITY the Associate Resource Group focused on the needs of African Americans.  I was a selected member of the Key Leader Group, for three years sponsored by Lee Scott, CEO of Wal-Mart. This group debates and dialogs key initiatives for the company. I was also a selected member of Fifth Thursday, which is a group whose purpose is to review key topics, discuss and implement best practices and translate the “out of the box” thinking to others within the organization.

In my personal time, I enjoy spending time with my family. I am blessed with a loving wife of 8 years, a daughter and a son.   I enjoy cooking, traveling, and love to shop for great deals. I am a member of Christian Live Cathedral Church and am also a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated.   

My parents come from a small country in the Caribbean called Haiti. I was born in New York and raised in Miami, Florida. I graduated high school at Miami Southridge and hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Economics from Florida A & M University.
